Creative Media
This project documents my work with the Western Pond Turtle Collaborative, where I supported conservation efforts through visual communication. I created digital illustrations and merchandise designs to help share the project's mission, and assisted as a photographer during field days, capturing on-site research and conservation efforts.
The Western Pond Turtle Collaborative is led by various California-based organizations dedicated to protecting Western Pond turtles through research. Partners include: East Bay Regional Park District, Oakland Zoo, SF Zoo, Alameda County Resource Conservation District, Swaim Biological, Sonoma State University, Dominican University, and New Mexico State University.
From the start, we aimed to offer merchandise that would engage a variety of people: classic shirts, playful hats, and artistic stickers. Early in the project, reach was prioritized over cohesiveness. I also helped design and launch the website used to sell the merchandise.
Over the summer, I attended a few field days on a ranch in Livermore, CA. I helped capture and document the research, producing media that the team could use to share their work.
